Reiki Healing Therapy in London
Reiki, meaning Universal Life Force, works on a physical, emotional and spiritual level to restore our energy balance and promote holistic health.
Reiki Healing Therapy
Reiki healing therapy flows into the body, reaching the areas that need support, soothing pain and helping the body’s natural healing process. Think of it as charging the body’s energy battery.
Reiki energy techniques can benefit people of all ages, including the elderly, pregnant women, children and babies; it also helps animals of all kinds – Reiki is believed to work on all living beings, even at a distance, and there are no side effects.
Reiki is delivered silently, so even when you can’t express your feelings out loud, you can benefit from a session with us.
The different types of Reiki Healing
There are many distinct types of Reiki healing, including Angelic, Holy Fire & Tibetan. We blend 2 types Usui and Karuna, when treating a client.
Usui Reiki Healing
Usui Reiki is the original Reiki healing, the base from which Karuna Reiki has evolved. Mikao Usui invented reiki in the early 1900s. He derived the term from the Japanese words “Rei” and “ki” which translate as “Universal Life Force”, which refers to the vital energy of all living things. Reiki is used in hospitals and hospices especially in Oncology wards to complement other health treatments.
Karuna® Reiki
The origin of the word “Karuna” is from Sanskrit. It refers to the universal ideas and meanings that relate to unconditional love, compassion, spiritual evolution, and other related concepts.
Karuna is a way to help yourself and others because we all are one; all interconnected, helping ourselves heal will help us to heal others. Karuna Reiki has been developed from Usui Reiki and must be practised as a continuance of Usui Reiki.
“I started Reiki healing midway through my treatment for Hodgkins Disease. Straight away it gave me a much needed boost of energy. After each session I felt stronger both emotionally and physically and have noticed how much more positive I feel about my situation.”

FAQs About Karuna Reiki®
Karuna Reiki® is not used instead of Usui Reiki — the two practices work beautifully together. In practice, a session will typically draw on both Usui and Karuna Reiki® energy, with the practitioner intuitively using whichever symbols and energy feel most appropriate for the recipient at that time.
Karuna Reiki® is an advanced form of Reiki developed by William Lee Rand at the International Centre for Reiki Training (ICRT). The word "Karuna" comes from Sanskrit and is used in both Hindu and Buddhist traditions to mean compassionate action — the motivation to act to reduce the suffering of others. Karuna Reiki® works with a specific set of sacred symbols and may offer a deeply powerful and transformative Reiki experience for both practitioner and recipient.
Karuna is a Sanskrit word meaning compassion — specifically the compassionate desire to take action to help reduce suffering in others. This beautifully captures the spirit of Karuna Reiki®, which is rooted in the intention to support, nurture and bring comfort to those we work with.
Karuna Reiki® sessions may support a wide range of emotional and physical concerns, including stress, anxiety, emotional blocks, trauma, and feelings of being stuck or overwhelmed. As with all Reiki, it works with the whole person — body, mind and spirit — and many recipients find sessions deeply relaxing and restorative. Karuna Reiki® is a complementary therapy and is not a replacement for medical advice or treatment.

These approaches work along side conventional medicine and other medical methods to create a holistic approach to health. Holistic approaches include, but are not limited to:
- Acupuncture
- Chiropractic physicians
- Osteopathy

- Naturopathic doctors
- Meditation
- Guided imagery
- Reiki

- EMDR
The importance of holistic wellness can’t be overstated – it is an essential factor for ensuring a happy, balanced life. Holistic lifestyles are all about helping to promote a positive mindset, therefore reducing the risks of illnesses and diseases. Holistic therapies aim to give person centred support so that individuals can achieve a positive approach towards wellness.
What Happens During a Reiki Therapy Session?
Each Reiki session lasts about an hour. The Reiki practitioner will gently place their hands on different areas of your body. You might feel mild tingling, pins and needles, pleasant warmth or coolness, or perhaps nothing at all.
No special equipment is needed. You can either sit or relax on a couch. There is no need to remove any clothing (only shoes and glasses), as the Reiki healing touch can pass through everything – even plaster casts!
What Our Clients Say
Lucinda makes Reiki more accessible and practical in it’s use. We all seemed to gain knowledge over and above the Reiki and how to use it, especially on a daily basis, for ourselves and for others.
