EFT Meaning

This treatment works on the idea that negative emotions are caused by disruptions within the body’s energy system. Unlike Acupuncture, EFT does not use needles. Instead, an EFT practitioner uses fingertip tapping to apply pressure. Every session begins with a conversation about what you would like to focus on — whether that is an emotion, a situation, a physical symptom or something that has been troubling you. From there we work through the EFT Tapping process together, gently addressing the issue at hand. Sessions are always led by you and carried out at your own pace, in a calm and supportive environment.

Sessions typically last around 60 minutes. This gives us enough time to explore what is going on for you, work through the tapping process fully, and leave you feeling settled before you go.

This varies from person to person and depends on what you are working on. Some people notice a significant shift in just one or two sessions, while others prefer ongoing support over a longer period. We will always discuss what feels right for you as we go.

Yes! EFT works just as effectively online as it does face to face, which means wherever you are in the world you can still benefit from a session. Online sessions are held via video call and are just as personal and supportive as being in the room together.

Most people leave a session feeling noticeably calmer, lighter and more at ease. It is quite common to feel a little tired afterwards as your body and mind process the shifts that have taken place, so it is a good idea to be gentle with yourself for the rest of the day and drink plenty of water.

The tapping points are specific locations on the body that correspond to the meridian energy channels used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. They include points on the side of the hand, the face, the collarbone and under the arm. Tapping on these points whilst focusing on an issue interrupts the stress response in the body and sends a message of safety to the brain. Each point plays a role in restoring the body's natural energy flow and bringing the nervous system back into balance. 

EFT is one of the most researched complementary therapies available today. Studies have shown that tapping reduces cortisol — the body's primary stress hormone — significantly, often in a single session.
